About MagaTech
The MAGA Tech Max Wedge is 1964 Dodge Polara 500. It was a 383 car from the factory. The car was owned by Layne J. of Salt Lake City from the 1970s until 2015. Layne raced the car at Bonneville Raceway, later Rocky Mountain Raceway (RMR) in the 1970s and 1980s. He was running a 440 with tunnel ram in the late 1980s when he parked the car in his shop until 2015.
He sold the car in 2015 as his health was deteriorating. RIP Layne.
A young man named James from Tooele, Utah bought the car and planned to revive and race it. A 1969 or 70 Dodge Charger changed that plan. Good luck with the Charger James!
BMH, LLC (www.coyotewhiteboards.com) bought the car and began the revival/restoration in June of 2020. The MAGA Tech/Stars and Stripes theme took shape with Steve Z. doing most of the body prep. Bryce from Revolution Vinyl completed the unique American Flag/MAGA Tech design and vinyl wrap with Philippians 4:13 as the guiding verse. The BMH team, installed the period correct 426 Max Wedge motor, purchased from Brian S. of South Jordan. SG Transmissions of West Haven built the 727 Torqueflite. Stan S. of Morgan, with an assist from Classic Industries, completed an awesome restoration of the factory original interior. The car is built to compete in NHRA Stock and Super Stock events which require a full factory interior.
Justin Y. of Ogden did a ton of mechanical work including the plumbing for fuel, coolant, and trans. Marc V. of Ogden took on some the electrical of the project. Transmission Exchange of Salt Lake built the torque converter, Six States of Salt Lake built the drive shaft, Jack's Tire and Oil in Ogden provided the fronts and Hoosier slicks mounted & balanced, and aligned the front end, Bob Mousilini provided great advice, the high torque starter and misc. other parts. Rod's Best Auto did some brake, suspension work, and misc. other work. Jack at Dee's Service did the front brakes to make sure the Max wedge stops straight. Thurman L. provided the period correct max wedge intake manifold, Carter AFB 3705 carbs, and the factory 64 Hood. Scott from AA Glass replaced the windshield. Doren's Sandblasting did the hood. Dale's Auto Body did a beautiful job on prep and painting the hood. Uly let us use his shop and lift for a variety of work. Tim W. built a custom Trans mount. Multiple suppliers deserve a shout out: Summit, Jegs, Patriot Headers, In-line Tube, MSD, 440 Source, ARP, and Northern Radiator. 20 Months of work to bring this classic back to the track was well worth the effort! Thanks to all and please forgive us for not getting everyone in the credits. Many others have contributed to bringing this classic back to life. God willing, much more to come….
